Herefordshire offers funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds, where applicable. In addition, EYPP (Early Years Pupil Premium) funding is also available for 3 and 4 year olds.
2 year funding is specific to individual children and has to be applied for via Hereford's Early Years team.
EYPP is an amount that nursery will receive on your behalf to purchase items relevant to your child's specific needs. You will receive an EYPP form when you complete a 'contract'.
3 and 4 year old funding comprises 15 hours 'Universal' funding, which every child receives and 15 hours 'Extended' funding which children whose parents work more than 16 hours per week receive. Universal applications are made through us while Extended funding is made via the gov.uk website, searching 30 hours free childcare.
There are three cut-off dates for eligibility, 31st December, 31st march and 31st August. Your child is eligible the term after they turn 3. Applications to HMRC MUST however, be made by the dates mentioned and can be made some time before. So, for example, if your child turns 3 between Sept 1st and 31st December, they are eligible the following January but applications must be made by the 31st December and so on.
IF A DEADLINE IS MISSED, HMRC WILL NOT HONOUR ANY PAYMENT UNLESS THERE IS EVIDENCE OF THE APPLICATION BEING MADE BEFORE THE DEADLINE DATES.
Your application to HMRC has to be made PRIOR to their funding start date, which may be different to the start of term. Once a DERN code has been generated, it is the parents' responsibility to re-validate this as per the government's guidelines.
Should a code be invalid for a particular term, nursery will reserve the right to charge full nursery prices. Please read the guidelines very closely to prevent this from happening.
Please ask for specific details as the claims system can be quite complicated.
Being on the border between England and Wales, we are able to access funding from both countries.
